FAQ
Polarized lenses & screens
Why do my phone or car screen look dark or rainbow-colored with my sunglasses on?
That's normal for polarized lenses. Many LCD screens (phones, car dashboards, GPS units, ATMs, gas pumps) use a polarizing filter too. At certain angles the two filters cancel out, so the screen can look dim, black, or show rainbow patterns. Your lenses aren't defective.
What can I do about it?
Tilt your head or rotate the screen a little and it usually clears right up. For screens you read often, like a dashboard display, a quick angle check before you drive helps.
Why polarized at all?
Polarized lenses cut glare from water, snow, roads, and car hoods, so you see more clearly and your eyes feel less tired. All Polar Panda™ sunglasses also have UV400 protection.
